Butler Church of the Nazarene began in 1940 and met at a building on S. Broadway and Willow Streets with 17 members. In 1942 they purchased the Whittenburg Lutheran Church building in Artic and moved it to Main Street in Butler. They used this building until 1960 when their current building was erected.
